Itinerary

Day 1: Portsmouth

Today you will embark Saga Pearl II to begin your cruise in Portsmouth.

Day 2: At Sea

Day 3 & 4: Oslo

Spend the afternoon perusing some of Oslo’s Christmas markets searching for gifts and sipping on gløgg – a Norwegian variation of mulled wine, sometimes imbued with vodka! One of the biggest markets in the city is in Eidsvoll Square, watched over by the elegant Norwegian Parliament and complete with its very own ice rink, gingerbread workshop and choir.

Later, why not spend the evening in a bar made entirely from ice? It’s kept at a frosty -5ºC ensuring that the furniture doesn’t melt, and don’t worry you’ll be provided with something warm to wear!

Day 5: Copenhagen

One of the most popular Christmas markets in Copenhagen is that of Tivoli Gardens, a fabulous funfair which is turned into a fairy-tale wonderland where you can pick up traditional gifts, from nutcrackers to hand-knitted scarves, and then enjoy a ride on the sparkling ferris wheel.

Follow the scent of sugar-roasted almonds to the Nyhavn waterfront, where festive stalls appear beside the quay and tempt you with such treats as aebleskiver, a pancake puff akin to a sweet Yorkshire pudding, and of course more gløgg.

Day 6: Transit the Kiel Canal

You'll spend most of today cruising along the world's busiest man-made waterway, the Kiel Canal. This 98-kilometre-long short cut connects the North Sea with the Baltic, saving ships from rounding the Jutland peninsula.

Day 7: At Sea

Day 8: Portsmouth

Unfortunately, you will disembark the Saga Pearl II in Portsmouth.
